About Tech4Good

Tech4Good is a one-person engineering studio, founded and run by Jim O’Brien. I've spent twenty-five years building software — at startups, at Fortune 500 companies, and in medical technology. I learned a lot. But somewhere along the way I started noticing what the industry has quietly become: very good at solving the problems of the people with the most options, and indifferent to the problems most people actually face. I started Tech4Good to do the opposite. Small, carefully built products for people the industry has overlooked. The first is Guardian Angel — a safety wearable for seniors that takes the actual cause of harm seriously, not the version that's easier to detect. I'm building these things because I think they should exist, and because waiting for someone else to do it didn't seem like a plan.
